About this Website 

This site is a resource for both teachers and students of Technology & Enterprise who are interested in exploring authentic lessons pertaining to food sustainability. The emphasis is on teaching and learning using ICT as a cognitive tool.  

The "Sustainable Food Unit" comprises of several engaging lessons created for adolescent students of Technology and Enterprise.   The students should complete the lessons sequentially over several weeks. The site includes all the resources and support that is required to complete the unit.

Rockpool Bar & Grill, Burswood has been chosen as the context of the unit as the targeted audience are students from Perth, Western Australia.   Feel free to change the context to suit you and to ensure the experience is motivating and relevant for students.

Neil Perry is opening another Rockpool Bar & Grill in February at Burswood, Perth. This will be the third restaurant under this name as he has two others in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia.  Mr Perry's  restaurants are renowned for offering diners a top dining experience.

"Neil Perry has an environmental conscience; the cornerstone of the menu is based around a sustainable philosophy of using the finest and freshest produce from Australia's most reputable suppliers" (WAtoday.com.au, July 15, 2010).

"I am hoping there will be plenty of people who are really interested in the quality of the ingredients that they eat and where their food comes from and the beautiful simple cooking that we do," when asked about the planned opening of his Perth restaurant (WAtoday.com.au, July 15, 2010).

To help Neil Perry create a successful restaurant he has enlisted the help of Technology & Enterprise students to assist with a range of actvities relating to sustainable food.
